A winner on the first season of NBC’s "The Biggest Loser" turned into a loser of another sort after he tried to defraud an insurer.
Boston resident David Fioravanti was indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury in connection with allegedly attempting to defraud insurance companies by reinsuring purportedly stolen jewelry, and for allegedly defrauding his auto insurance company by presenting a false registration address.
Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office said that Fioravanti had been charged with motor vehicle insurance fraud, insurance fraud, larceny of more $250 and making a false statement on a motor vehicle registration.
Fioravanti won $100,000 as an at-home winner on the first season of NBC’s "The Biggest Loser" television show in 2004. He is scheduled for arraignment in Suffolk Superior Court on Nov. 4.
